MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets an AI assistant use tools on another system. Our MCP server is the set of tools that lets Claude work on your hosting: list your sites, read and write files, and query your databases.
Without it, Claude can write code but you have to copy it to your site yourself. With it, Claude makes the change on the site and can then check its own work.
No. Anthropic allows custom connectors on every Claude plan, including Free, although Free accounts are limited to one custom connector. Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans give you more usage, which helps when Claude is building a whole site.
Claude is what we build and test with. MCP is an open standard, so other assistants that support remote MCP servers should also be able to connect. If you want to use a different tool, ask us and we'll tell you whether we've tried it.
No. When you connect, you sign in with your fluent account, and every tool is limited to the sites and databases on that account. Claude cannot list, read or change anything that belongs to another customer.
Every site is backed up nightly, off-site, and we keep 30 days of backups, so a file or database can be put back the way it was. Contact support and we will restore it.
A good habit is to ask Claude to make a copy of a file before a big change, and to try new work in a separate folder first. In Claude you can also choose to approve each action before it runs.
Yes. Nothing about your hosting changes. The MCP server is simply another way in, alongside the way you manage your site now.
Yes. Claude can work on themes, templates, custom modules and plugins, and read the database to understand how the site is put together. For everyday content changes it is usually better to use the site's own admin screens. Claude is most useful for building features, fixing problems and making bulk changes.
Once a website exists on your account, Claude can build it from an empty folder. You add new websites and databases in the Control Panel. We are working on letting Claude set up new sites itself.
